Hi Erica, I met with you 10 months ago when Emma was 6 months old. I didn’t do the sleep training with her after meeting with you. I did however put other measures in place that you recommended, putting her into her own cot, bedtime routing etc. 2 weeks ago exactly I tried the actual sleep training routing of leaving her in her cot and checking on her in 30 second increments as per your guideline and programme. I stopped the bottles at same time so did it all out. I reached a new level of exhaustion and desperation as she was a chronically bad sleeper and would wake up every 1.5 to 2 hours (sometimes 3 hours if I was very lucky) and would drink milk every time. This went on for 12 months, from when she was 4 months until now at 16 months. She has accepted this new way so well, I literally just put her in her cot wide awake and she lies there until she falls asleep. It is amazing! She also sleeps through the night! It is unbelievable. She eats better too as she is sleeping better. She goes to be around 8pm (I know it’s a blot later than you recommended but it works for us as gives us enough quality time at night) and she wakes roughly around 7am. It is just too wonderful for words! Thank you for your guidance. Thanks again Erica. Keep well.

Thanks Erica. The good news is that we had such a huge improvement with Isla’s sleep. She mostly sleeps through now or wakes and sooths herself back to sleep. If she can’t soothe herself, I at worst have gotten up once. I wasn’t ready to remove the dummy altogether so we put more rigor into the sleep associations. Sleeping bag, story time, finish bottle, dummy in, put her down awake. Place comforter monkey by her face and others that are bigger around her that she can access, and boof she goes down. Honesly I feel like I have had a vacation. I just wanted to thank you for being factual, for saying what we needed to hear and actually for giving us (me) the courage to do it.

It’s been a year and a half since you came to my rescue and my daughter Emily is still sleeping through the night. Hi Erica, just to give you some feedback. The later nap is working really well for Tomas and he had a week of very good nights! Pretty much sleeping through. I have only had to implement the 30 sec technique twice and only for 30 sec!

I had a consult with you about 3 years ago re sleep training my daughter. It changed our lives. My son is now 13 months and we are struggling with sleep. Purely bad habits. Do you still consults? Or can I just use the same sleep training method for him as I did with my daughter who was 9 months at the time?
